Peter BrownThe board of Baptiste Lake Association is sad to report that Peter Brown passed away on December 20th. He had been suffering from cancer. We extend our condolences to his family. Peter was a tireless volunteer for the BLA and he will be sorely missed.

Hasting Highlands Electoral ReformAttached is presentation document extracted from the Hastings Highlands web site regarding Electoral Reform. This document provides information as to why this issue of Electoral Reform is being raised. Specifically, the inequity between the current wards based on population, since all 3 current wards currently elect two councillors each and the 2014 Eligible Elector Count varies between 3048 (United Townships of Bangor, Wicklow and McClure) and 1483 (Monteagle). Our ward (Herschel), had an Eligible Elector Count of 2581. The document also lists various advantages and disadvantages of the various proposals listed in the comment form which was posted on December 9th.

FIRE BAN LIFTEDThe Fire Ban for all of North Hastings will be lifted as of August 17, 2016 starting at 6:00pm which includes the following Municipalities:
- Town of Bancroft
- Municipality of Hastings Highlands
- Faraday Township
- Wollaston Township
- Tudor/Cashel Township
- Carlow/Mayo Township
- Limerick Township
NO DAYTIME BURNING will resume from the hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm for all municipalities listed.
Use of Camp Fires for cooking and warmth are permitted again.

TOTAL FIRE BANA Total Fire Ban is in effect as of August 5, 2016 starting at 7:00am for all of North Hastings area, which includes the following Municipalities;
Town of Bancroft
Municipality of Hastings Highlands
This Fire Ban includes any open air burning including campfires used for cooking and warmth, the use of fireworks and flying lanterns
Any persons found violating this ban could face applicable fines and/or charges. Anyone deemed liable for a fire incident during this ban will face any and all costs incurred as a result of the fire departments response and actions taken to extinguish said fire.
Please monitor local media and municipal websites for any additional changes to the Fire Ban.
The Fire Ban will remain in effect until significant rainfall is received and reviewed by Fire Services to lift the Ban.
If you encounter someone who won’t extinguish a fire please call 911 and ask for Fire Dept. Please advise the dispatcher that you have burn complaint about a fire during the Fire Ban. Supply the 911# where the fire is and name of the person if possible who is burning. The dispatcher may ask further questions around this issue for additional information. Dispatch will look after the rest from there.
