Wow — what a day!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 5th Annual Lake Baptiste Pike Derby on July 5th. It was an absolutely incredible day on our beautiful lake.

This year was a SELL OUT! We had 74 boats and 201 anglers casting lines in the name of fun, competition, and conservation. Together, we brought in a total weigh-in of 700 lbs 13 oz from 55 boats — an impressive average of 12½ pounds per boat!

Here are this year’s winners:

🥇 1st Place – $700 – 37 lbs 8 oz – Calieb Grant & Isaac Laundry
🥈 2nd Place – $300 – 36 lbs 10 oz – Jeff Goeree
🥉 3rd Place – $200 – 36 lbs 9 oz – Chris Mills
🏅 4th Place – $100 – 33 lbs 9 oz – Arek Akasamit
🏅 5th Place – 23 lbs 11 oz – George Tsagrinos (Merchandise)
🏅 6th Place – 22 lbs 5 oz – Gavin Gerrits (Merchandise)
🏅 7th Place – 22 lbs 1 oz – Tyler Davis (Merchandise)

Proceeds from this year’s derby will benefit two incredible partners:
• The Baptiste Lake Association (BLA)
• The North Hastings Community Fish Hatchery
With Ticket Sales, individual donations, and sponsor donations we brought in $5,180! After paying out prize money and some minor expenses we will be netting $2,937. Thank you for supporting our efforts!

This year’s funds are going toward a $6,000+ investment in an underwater drone system. This isn’t just cool tech — it’s a vital tool to map the lake bottom, monitor fish spawning beds, and assess lake health. BLA is leading the project, and the Hatchery will help train users and keep it running smoothly. Best of all, this technology will help protect not only Baptiste Lake but also nearby lakes, supporting the health of our entire region’s ecosystem.

A huge THANK YOU to every one of you who made the day so special. Whether you hauled in a trophy fish or simply enjoyed a day on the water, you were part of something important. The community spirit was fantastic.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held at Birch Cliff Lodge starting at 9 am. All members welcome to join us!

Join us at Camp Ponacka between 5 and 7 pm for our Annual Corn and Weenie Roast! Food and beverages provided by the BLA. Donations and new members welcome!
